Darkstalker was born to Foeslayer, daughter of the NightWing queen, and Arctic, a IceWing prince who fled his tribe for love. As a hybrid of two warring bloodlines, he emerged as a dragonet with terrifying gifts: he could pluck thoughts from the minds around him, glimpse branching futures like a river of possibilities, and enchant objects with animus magic that bent the world to his will. His father grew cold and resentful, seeing a monster in his own son, while his mother and the NightWing tribe saw a weapon to be honed. Yet in the midst of this, Darkstalker's heart was anchored by his love for Clearsight, a NightWing prophet who saw the same futures he did—and feared them.

He had seen a vision of them all perishing in fire and ice, and another where they thrived under his benevolent rule. 'I can save them,' he whispered to the wind, his animus magic pulsing hot at his claws, eager to be unleashed. But Clearsight's voice echoed from a memory, soft and desperate: 'Some futures are not meant to be forced.' He closed his eyes, torn between the love that grounded him and the ambition that promised salvation, knowing that whichever path he chose, he would lose something irreplaceable.
